This is a project for government officer housing in WA's far north. The residents of the East Kimberley town of Kununurra tolerate a climate of extremes. For much of the year the daytime maximum temperatures push towards 40 degrees. In the wet season the heat is accompanied by monsoonal rainfall that fills nearby Lake Argyle.

"Deeply shaded outdoor living spaces with ceiling fans have been located to capture the breeze."

These three freestanding steel homes on a grouped dwelling site have been designed to capture the prevailing breezes. Careful planning has allowed for windows on multiple sides of all rooms maximising crossflow. Deeply shaded outdoor living spaces with ceiling fans have been located to capture the breeze while slatted screens afford privacy.
